Twilight

swimming_home.jpg

Polar Bear Mike doing his mind-over-matter best to retard the laws of physics and spend a few more minutes in his chosen element. There'll be no pictures, but he did this under the unmuted stars as well 2 of 3 nights. I followed him twice by day was but witness to the dark daring.

What is that out on the water? Is that really Michael swimming? And he did this in the dark, too?

Adam always swims during the day, however, he adamantly refuses to follow me into "The icy void." Someday he will, I guarantee it.

Perhaps "adamantly refuses" could have more accurately been replaced with "waffles pitifully about whether" ... It was enough for me this time that I managed the second dip, but Mike's right -- I truly wanted to manage a night immersion. Or at least wanted to want to. Or wanted to be able to say I had. Or was wanting ...

Had I sensed a waffle, I would have pushed. I must have been too frozen to notice.
